The band is famously a trio that performs without a bass player. They use two guitars and a drum kit to create a "massive wall of sound" that fills the low-end frequency typically occupied by a bass.
The album represents a transition from their earlier, more direct stoner rock toward a more mature, atmospheric sound. It balances heavy, fuzzy riffs with subdued, psychedelic passages and vocal harmonies.
